PVDF foam board: the perfect combination of crystallinity, surface tension and chemical corrosion resistance
PVDF foam board is a semi-crystalline polymer material, and its crystallinity varies depending on the production method and the thermodynamic history during processing, usually between 50% and 70%. This high crystallinity gives PVDF foam board excellent rigidity and mechanical strength, and can withstand greater pressure and impact. PVDF foam board also has good surface tension performance, and its surface tension is low, which makes the liquid poorly wettable on its surface and not easily corroded by chemical media.
Tight molecular chain arrangement: PVDF foam board with high crystallinity has a more tightly ordered molecular chain arrangement. This tight structure makes it difficult for chemical media to penetrate into the material, thereby effectively preventing the occurrence of chemical reactions.
Enhanced intermolecular forces: As the crystallinity increases, the interaction force between the molecules of PVDF foam board is also enhanced accordingly. This enhanced intermolecular force enables the material to better maintain its structural stability when corroded by chemical media, and is not prone to swelling or decomposition.
Effect of surface tension on chemical corrosion resistance
Reduced wettability: The lower surface tension of PVDF foam board makes the liquid less wettable on its surface. This means that when the chemical medium contacts the surface of the material, it is not easy to form a stable wetting layer, thereby reducing the contact area between the chemical medium and the material and reducing the possibility of chemical reaction.
Improved anti-adhesion: The lower surface tension also makes PVDF foam board have good anti-adhesion. When the chemical medium forms an adhesion layer on the surface of the material, due to its lower surface tension, the adhesion layer is easy to fall off and is not easy to cause continuous erosion to the material.
Application advantages of PVDF foam board
Chemical corrosion protection: Because PVDF foam board has good chemical corrosion resistance, it is widely used in the anti-corrosion treatment of chemical equipment. For example, in corrosive environments such as pickling tanks and electroplating tanks, PVDF foam board can be used as the lining or coating of the equipment to effectively prevent the equipment from being corroded by corrosive media.
Environmental protection field: In the field of environmental protection, PVDF foam board is also used to manufacture wastewater treatment equipment. Its excellent chemical corrosion resistance enables the equipment to operate stably for a long time, improving the efficiency and quality of wastewater treatment.
New energy field: With the rapid development of new energy industry, PVDF foam board is increasingly used in lithium batteries, solar cells and other fields. Its good insulation performance and chemical corrosion resistance make PVDF foam board an indispensable material in these devices.
