Home / News / How to ensure the long-term durability and stability of PVDF Foam Sheet based on material selection and quality control
As a high-performance material, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) foam sheet has been widely used in aerospace, construction, automobile, electronics and other fields due to its light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance, good weather resistance and good processing performance. However, to ensure that PVDF foam sheet maintains its superior performance during long-term use, material selection and quality control are crucial. This article will discuss in detail how to ensure the long-term durability and stability of PVDF foam sheet from the two aspects of material selection and quality control.
1. Material selection
1. Raw material quality
PVDF resin: Selecting high-quality PVDF resin is the basis. High-quality PVDF resin should have a lower molecular chain breakage rate and higher crystallinity, which is directly related to the mechanical strength, weather resistance and chemical stability of the foam sheet. When purchasing, well-known brands should be given priority, and check whether they meet relevant industry standards or international standards.
Foaming agent and additives: The choice of foaming agent affects the density, structure and performance of the foam. Environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and highly efficient foaming agents, such as physical foaming agents or chemical foaming agents, should be selected, but it is necessary to ensure that they will not decompose and produce harmful substances during processing. Additives such as stabilizers and plasticizers should also be selected to have good compatibility with PVDF and do not affect the performance of the material.
2. Formula design
Proportion adjustment: According to the specific application requirements, adjust the proportion of PVDF resin, foaming agent, and additives. For example, for applications that require higher strength, the proportion of PVDF resin can be appropriately increased; for applications that require better processing fluidity, an appropriate amount of plasticizer can be added.
Special additives: For specific application environments, special additives such as ultraviolet absorbers, antioxidants, and flame retardants can be added to enhance the weather resistance, oxidation resistance, and fire resistance of PVDF Foam Sheet.
2. Quality control
1. Production process control
Raw material pretreatment: Raw materials should be strictly pretreated before use, such as drying and screening, to ensure the purity and uniformity of the raw materials.
Mixing and foaming: The mixing process should ensure that the components are evenly dispersed to avoid excessive or low local concentrations. The foaming process should precisely control temperature, pressure and time to obtain the ideal foam structure and density.
Molding and curing: The molding process should ensure the accuracy and temperature control of the mold to avoid deformation or cracking of the material during the molding process. The curing process should ensure that the material is fully cross-linked to improve the strength and stability of the foam board.
2. Performance testing and evaluation
Conventional performance testing: including density, hardness, tensile strength, compression strength, bending strength, etc. to evaluate the basic mechanical properties of the foam board.
Weathering resistance test: By simulating the conditions of light, temperature, humidity and other conditions in the natural environment, the weathering resistance of the foam board is tested, such as color change, surface aging, mechanical property degradation, etc.
Chemical stability test: Test the stability of PVDF Foam Sheet in various chemical media, such as acid, alkali, salt solution, etc., to evaluate its corrosion resistance.
Long-term performance test: For critical applications, long-term performance tests such as accelerated aging test, fatigue test, etc. should be carried out to evaluate the performance stability and durability of the foam board during long-term use.
3. Quality Control System
ISO Certification: Enterprises should establish quality management systems such as ISO 9001 to ensure that every link from raw material procurement, production and processing to finished product inspection meets international standards.
Traceability System: Establish a complete traceability system to record the source, production date, processing process, performance test results and other information of each batch of raw materials to facilitate the traceability and resolution of quality problems.
Continuous Improvement: Based on performance test results and customer feedback, continuously optimize formulas and production processes to improve product quality and performance stability.
3. Comprehensive Measures
Training and Awareness Enhancement: Regularly conduct quality awareness training for employees to ensure that every employee understands the importance of quality control and can strictly follow the operating procedures.
Supplier Management: Establish a strict supplier management system and conduct regular evaluations of raw material suppliers to ensure the quality and stability of raw materials.
Customer Communication and Service: Strengthen communication with customers, understand customer needs and usage environment, provide targeted product recommendations and services, and enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
